our client is a us based bra n d of baby care a n d parenting items. their products are available worldwide through global retailers. due to their expansion, they are now seeking an experienced production manager to prepare a n d e x e cute production plans for new products a n d nearly 500 replenishment skus at over a dozen suppliers in asia. this role is based in shenzhen.
key responsibilities:
-manage multiple asymmetrical product development a n d production calendars, allocate internal a n d external resources, a n d manage milestones a n d contingencies at a macro a n d micro level to assure that business goals are realized.
-develop contingency a n d risk management strategies to maximize certainty of meeting product specification, cost, quality a n d delivery goals.
-work with us a n d asia-based teams to monitor production as needed.
-develop production plan for finished goods considering: sales forecasts, component availability, manufacturing capacity, overall supply risk.
-communicate forecasts, commitments a n d discontinued item information to vendors.
-develop a n d manage phase in / phase out strategies for promotional activities a n d product discontinuations.
-provide guidance to key decision-makers to aid in the creation a n d implementation of sourcing strategies a n d allocation plans.
-track pricing changes a n d negotiate solutions that lead to improvements, minimize cost a n d maximize margin (related to commodity pricing, exchange rates, etc.).
-track a n d manage running changes a n d product customization for special customers a n d promotions.
-analyze alternative manufacturing strategies (where to make) a n d run strategies (production sequence) to determine most cost efficient a n d effective production plans.
-develop strategies to deal with unanticipated changes in dema n d a n d cost.
-collaborate with quality assurance to improve performance by effectively analyzing sources of error a n d recommending appropriate corrective action.
-analyze a n d determine most cost effective approach to investing in raw materials a n d components; authorize a n d track inventory of raw materials, components a n d pre-built inventory at all vendors.
role requirements
-bachelors or higher degree in business, engineering or a related field.
-5-10 years experience in production planning with factories in asia, preferably with cut a n d-sew.
-very strong quantitative a n d analytical skills, project planning skills a n d proven ability to manage highly complex overlapping schedules a n d milestones.
-ability to develop complex tracking systems a n d simplified high level reporting that provide maximum visibility into ongoing production.
-knowledge of production: trade regulations, testing protocol, production integrity, a n d production cycle times, fabric construction.
-solid understa n ding of end-to-end supply chain a n d inventory control.
-knowledge of excel a n d mrp software; experience with navision preferred.
-materials requirements planning, bom';s a n d routings.
-must be self-directed a n d capable of leading improvement efforts.
-strong analytical capabilities a n d a high level of detail a n d accuracy.
-experience managing a team of direct reports a n d non-direct responsible parties, including assigning a n d overseeing the completion of milestones.
-ability to display diplomacy in day-today interactions with the commitment to task with awareness of urgency.
-ability to influence others through strong negotiating skills.

-travel to us as needed.
